Getting a peaceful undisturbed 7-8 hour sleep is a must for a healthy body and mind. Sleeping provides for the needed rest that the muscles need to function properly and fills up the fuel tanks of the body. Disturbed sleep and irregular sleep pattern can have serious effects on our overall health, resulting in a lack of concentration, making us more prone to falling sick and more prone to anxiety, depression, and fear.
Here are 5 things to add to your night routine for a pumped morning!
- Prepare for the Next Day –
Make a To-Do list or write in your journal. Planning the day helps in completing the work efficiently and on time. It helps in generating a sense of responsibility along with a stress-free life. Planning the things that are to be done or even small things like deciding your outfit for the next day or meal prepping saves so much time!
- Do light stretches –
Stretching before bedtime releases muscle soreness making you feel relaxed. Deep breathing for a couple of minutes helps in lowering the blood pressure which makes you calm and composed. It is extremely essential for a good sleep. Stretching is proven to be good for joints and muscles too.
- Take a Hot Shower –
A hot shower or bath helps in changing the body temperature making you feel light. A study shows that it lowers inflammation and blood sugar levels too. The research shows taking a hot shower about 60-90 minutes before bedtime makes you fall asleep faster.
- Avoid Screens and Practise Reading –
Phones, Tabs, and Laptops emit blue light which is harmful to the eyes. These rays increase our alertness during the night making us fall asleep late or resulting in a disturbed sleep. This eventually lowers the alertness and activeness of the next morning. In place of using these, replace the screen time with good books or practice journaling. Apart from this, don’t forget to turn off the internet as you may be intrigued to check the notifications.
- Pray and Be Thankful –
In a fast-running life, we often forget to thank ourselves and God for everything. It is a good practice of counting your blessings, realizing how lucky and blessed you are, and affirming yourself with the same. This releases powerful feelings of well-being and a positive self-image.
