Needless to say, we hardly know ourselves. We all have some points in our lives when we think that we already have discovered ourselves or that we know who we really are. But sometimes it's okay to look around and rethink your thoughts. The best way to improve your decisions and learn is to really get to know yourself.
Now, you are here because you are on a journey of discovering yourself and becoming more self-aware. Hence, we have brought a few simple steps that will improve your self-awareness and make your venture better.
- Jot Down Your Attributes
Trying to see your real self can be a very difficult process, but it is extremely rewarding. That’s how you learn to accept and improve yourself in the future. Write down the things you are good at in your small notebook. If you are confused, ask your beloveds. Then write the aspects that you need to improve and the things that you are most proud of. Think about the things that make you happy. This way you know exactly about the attributes that you have in yourself and get somewhat a picture of your personality. Do this every day, since attributes change with time.
- Devote Your Time To Journaling
When you put down your thoughts on paper, your mind becomes clearer and more open to new ideas and information. Every night, write in your diary about your day's thoughts, successes, and shortcomings. This will assist you in growing and progressing in your accomplishments. When you think of yourself- Ask these, "Can I do something for the people around me?" What am I doing with my life at the moment? What is my current goal? What is the most important thing at the moment? What am I looking for? Is the company I keep bringing value to my life?
- Practice Meditation Everyday
Meditation is the process of cultivating mindful consciousness. It's the quiet time of meditation that will help you gain perspective. During your meditation, you might come up with several life questions and address them one by one. This way it will clear out so many confusions. Use calming music if you have trouble concentrating.
- Take Personality Tests
Personality and psychometric tests help you understand what traits you have. And there’s no correct answer to the questions, so you don’t need to worry about the results. Everyone has a distinct personality and hence will answer differently. Instead, the responses would show you a series of traits that closely describe you in comparison to other individuals.
- Take Constructive Criticisms From The People Around You
How are we supposed to know what other people think of us? We have to listen to the observations of our peers and mentors. Let them play a role of an honest mirror. Tell your close friends that you are looking for open and critical perspectives. Make sure that they are helping you, not hurting you. But be careful to take constructive opinions, not the ones that make you lose your confidence.
